By day, I am the Partnership Director for the Philadelphia tourism office. By night, I am the co-owner of Fagabond, a full-service LGBT travel-planning website. In my free time, I am a saxophonist in a Philadelphia Mummers band (google it.) Starting Fagabond seemed like a logical step for me.

The story behind Fagabond
Partners in life and business, Mike Sheridan and Jim Werner were first inspired to create Fagabond in 2007. Tired of using the same old websites to plan their oh-so-gay vacays, the couple decided to create a full-service travel site exclusively for the LGBT community. Werner, who works at a tourism and marketing organization, and Sheridan, at a luxury hotel, may both live in Philly, but their new site spans everywhere from popular gay destinations like Asbury Park and P-Town to New Orleans, Austin and San Francisco.

With the launch today of Fagabond, gay travelers have a new online tool to help them plan and book their next trip.
Ongoing research by San Francisco-based Community Marketing, a marketing firm that specializes in gay travel, shows that gay travelers are strongly influenced by information they find online and much more likely to use online booking services.

Just as Pride Month comes to an end, Fagabond (fagabond.com) gives the on-the-go LGBT community reason to celebrate. The new travel-planning website features a booking widget powered by Travelocity and gives the LGBT-focused lowdown, including destination descriptions, nightlife picks, must-try restaurants, fabulous events and more, for 20 of the country’s top LGBT cities. Users can also find travel deals and sign up for the e-newsletter.
