There won’t be a Pride Fort Lauderdale this year! Instead the organization is hosting Pride of the Americas, a five-day festival taking place April 21-26.
It will incorporate many of the Pride Fort Lauderdale events, while welcoming and representing countries from throughout the Americas from Canada to Chile.
There will still be a Pride parade on Saturday, April 25, but the beach-front festival will celebrate the rainbow array of communities to be found in the Western Hemisphere. In addition to the parade and festival, an array of events, many of which are free to attend, will take place during the five-day celebration.
The festival kicks off with a women-centric event, “Pussy Party: A Playful, Illuminating, and Empowering Celebration,” on Tuesday, April 21 as Thinking Cap Theatre in association with Thou Art Woman hosts the event at Vanguard Sanctuary for the Arts in Fort Lauderdale.
