Over 300 people braved the rain and packed the small GLBT History Museum in the Castro for its fifth anniversary party and raised more than $1,500 for the nonprofit.
The museum, located at 4127 18th Street, is the first full-scale stand alone museum of its kind in the country. It is part of the San Francisco GLBT Historical Society, which has one of the largest collections of LGBT historical archives.
Since its opening in 2011, about 75,000 people have visited the museum, which sees about 15,000 people a year, historical society spokesman Marke Bieschke said.
