As a production crew installs stages overnight Nov. 7 and vendors busily set up booths in the wee hours of Nov. 8, Ron deHarte will finally see his long-held dream begin to take shape on Palm Springs’ main drag.
For nearly four years, the Greater Palm Spring Pride president’s goal has been to move the annual festival from Palm Springs Stadium, which has hosted it for 13 years.
“I’ve known since I came on board that we really needed to find another solution,” deHarte says.
Several reasons fueled his mission to move the event, such as the logistical challenges of getting spectators to bring their festive mood from the downtown parade route to the centrally located baseball stadium, and to find parking once they were there.
