Those extra-nice cashiers at the Ralph’s grocery store in Palm Springs were not an illusion.
This is an especially nice town. And don’t just take my word for it.
Movoto, a real estate blog, put together its list of the 10 nicest cities in the United States, and Palm Springs ranked at No. 4. (San Luis Obispo, our coastal neighbor a few miles up the road between Los Angeles and San Francisco, ranked No. 1.)
For the analysis Movoto editors selected the 100 largest cities of 50,000 residents or fewer and then examined topics Movoto thought might be indicators of a community’s overall cheer level. How many flower and gift shops are there? Same goes for card shops. (Which might seem to also be a measure of nice manners as well as an affable comportment. I know, I revel at choosing the perfect Thank You Note.)
