More visitors are choosing Philadelphia as a leisure destination.
Visit Philadelphia touted the region’s success in drawing visitors during its annual New Year’s breakfast held Jan. 7 at the Doubletree Hotel.
“Since we’re all been working together in terms of making Philadelphia a destination, visitation to the region has soared,” Meryl Levitz, president of Visit Philadelphia told the tourism and hospitality leaders who were in attendance.
The five-county Greater Philadelphia region welcomed 39 million visitors in 2013, which is up from 7.3 million in 1997, when Visit Philadelphia began marketing the region as a leisure destination.
