David Moyer, wearing what he described as a rainbow muumuu, cheered on as thousands marched down North Palm Canyon Drive Sunday for the annual Palm Springs Pride parade.

It was his fifth pride festival in Palm Springs. And even though he’s attended others in his hometown of Allentown, Penn., Moyer said the local festivities were more elaborate and energetic.

“You guys do it right, here,” said Moyer, 72. “I come here for this because it’s so great.”

The parade was the culmination of the 29th annual Greater Palm Springs Pride festival, which kicked off Saturday in the downtown area. For nearly two hours Sunday, people of all ages, genders, races and religions marched through uptown and downtown Palm Springs to show their support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
