In recent years, the East Village gay bar scene has diminished as places like the Slide, the Hose and the Urge have closed. So neighborhood gays were curious when a new club called Stairs opened in January.
“The East Village used to have some great gay bars, but they’re dying out,” said Leo Giordamina, the manager of Stairs, which hopes to keep the guys south of 14th Street. “We’re trying to diversify things here. So you can stay downtown and have a great time with good drinks and food.”
