For some reason, people don’t consider Florida technically the South but they should try heading even farther down the pike to the southeastern part of the state to the unique city of Miami.
A mix of accents—from Southern to Latin to high-society dialects—can be found. This is a metropolitan area with a strong artist community and shopping galore. Cruise ships keep the area active for tourism, thanks to a nearby port. Miami is split into the North, South, West and downtown ( or East side ) sections.
