Going away for the long weekend? Perhaps on one of these last-minute Fourth of July escapes? Since the goal of the Fourth of July is just to relax and enjoy the balmy temperatures and lazy nights of summer, our biggest advice to you is not to overpack. So, here’s our complete Fourth of July packing list to make sure you have everything you need for a fabulous getaway.
We fancy ourselves quite the expert packers; two weeks in Tokyo on a single carry-on suitcase is de rigeur for us, and so we’d thought we’d share our own packing list for next weekend — with a few revisions allowing for your flexibility, of course. You’ll be surprised how little you need to bring.
What to Pack
Wardrobe Essentials
First up, let’s talk wardrobe. You’re going to want to bring some stylish yet comfy clothing. Crop tops are an absolute must — perfect for showing off that summer body and staying cool in the heat. Speedos are also essential, because what’s a beach trip without the perfect swimwear? Don’t forget a few pairs of vibrant shorts and a couple of tank tops.
Sensible Footwear
Leave the heels to the professionals — drag queens. Wear sensible shoes. Trust me, you do not want to be walking around for miles to get from bar-to-bar in heels or even flip-flops. Sneakers, boat shoes, whatever covers your feet. Just not crocs. Never crocs, okay.
Fun (And Important) Extras
Now, let’s get to the fun stuff. Poppers are a party essential if that’s your thing, but always remember to use them safely. Fanny packs are making a huge comeback and they’re perfect for keeping your hands free while dancing the night away or exploring new places. Speaking of safety, pack plenty of condoms and lube – it’s always better to be prepared, right?
Skincare & Sun Protection
Sunblock — and I mean SPF 30 at least — is non-negotiable. Keep your skin protected from those harsh UV rays; no one wants to deal with sunburn on vacation.
Shades On
Sunglasses are more than an accessory for reading a b*tch — they’re essential for shielding your eyes from the sun. Plus, they totally elevate your look. Whether you’re into classic aviators, trendy oversized frames, or funky colored lenses, make sure you bring a pair (or two). You’ll be glad you did when you’re strutting your stuff on the boardwalk or people-watching at a cute café.
Entertainment Must-Haves
Don’t forget a good book for some laid-back reading time by the pool or on the beach. A Bluetooth speaker can keep the good vibes going with your favorite playlists.
There you have it — the ultimate Fourth of July packing list. Of course, you’ll need the best weekender bag to fit all these fabulous essentials and keep them organized while you’re on the go.
Remember, the key is to pack smart and only bring what you’ll actually use. This will ensure you have more room for the actual experiences and new finds you’ll come across during your trip.
Happy Fourth of July and safe travels!
